When we here at SFG first saw this elephant wandering around, we didn't think much of it. However, once he meandered over to this house, we couldn't believe what he did next.
The fact that this massive creature had to clean-up after us is a bit disappointing. So, we figured if we shared some major facts about pollution, maybe we'd all be more inclined to tidy up our act.
According to DoSomething.org, "Pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting over 100 million people. That’s comparable to global diseases like malaria and HIV." That same site explains that with proper recycling programs and methods in place, we have the potential to do some real good for our planet. "Recycling and composting prevented 85 million tons of material away from being disposed of in 2010, up from 18 million tons in 1980."
The researchers on DoSomething.org also found that, "Americans make up an estimated 5% of the world’s population. However, the US produces an estimated 30% of the world’s waste and uses 25% of the world’s resources." This is just more proof that we all need to do our part in order to better our environment.
