The beautiful and mysterious Pallas' cat has lived much of its existence as a highly elusive animal of the wild. Considering the cat's extremely skittish nature, the below video is made even more fascinating. A video camera planted outside of a rock den captured an incredible moment featuring a very curious Pallas' cat. The footage shows the feline slowly emerging from its den and making its way towards the camera where it takes a very close look at the equipment. Despite the cat's shy nature, its curiosity was too great to stay holed up in its den when a foreign object lurked nearby.
Originally uploaded by 'SCARCE WORLDWIDE' in October 2013, the video quickly went viral, accumulating over 2.8 million views. Contrary to what many believe, this popular footage was not shot in the wild, but rather at a wildlife reserve called Port Lympne in Kent, England, as described by
The Dodo. Port Lympne houses over 700 animals in cage-free environments; their
site explains that the Pallas' cat enclosure is one of the more recent installments at the park.
