This little guy looked like a tiny puppy when I first saw him, but when his ears and tongue came into view I knew he was really a bat! This video was originally posted by Batzilla the Bat on their Facebook page. They posted the video and others like it to spread the word about how wonderful bats can be. This poor little guy had been rescued from some fruit tree netting in which he had been entangled.
Batzilla the Bat wants to encourage people to be careful when using fruit netting, as it can be done in a way that is useful while also not posing a threat to bats. They suggest that you "never use any netting you can poke your finger through and use shadecloth or a similar weave to protect your fruit."
After seeing this little guy enjoying a banana I have developed a new appreciation for bats. They certainly can be quite cute. What are your thoughts?
