According to the Soi Dog Foundation ("soi" is Thai for "side street" or "alley"), as of 2012 there were over 300,000 stray dogs roaming Bankok, Thailand. While that number is tragically high, there are people out there trying to do something about the problem. This is the story of Sorasart Wisetsin and his simple yet remarkable deed of collecting stray dogs around his town and bathing them. On the surface it seems like such an easy thing to do, and he'd like to show you it's exactly that.

His history with dogs is touching one. Mr. Wisetsin was in school one day when he instantly connected with a stray dog outside of his dormitory. Every evening he would feed his special friend, yet afterwards he would have to turn her away to the chaotic alleys of Thanya Buri, Thailand, where he studied mass communications. Not satisfied with his university's policy that didn't allow strays to live inside, he officially became Gluta's owner (Gluta was the name his girlfriend chose). From that day forward, Gluta would never have to live the life of a soi dog again. Now a videographer by trade, Wisetsin in this particular video shows that his love affair for soi dogs hasn't waned in the slightest.

He's sending a basic and very powerful message. Yes, it might take an entire afternoon to gather up and wash a few stray dogs, but something as simple as a bath might create a vastly better life for them moving forward. He's helping rid them of fleas, disease, odor, and filth. I try to imagine how I would feel if no one ever cared for me, and then one day a stranger came along and said, "Hey, you don't know me, but I want to help you out just at little."

He obviously can't clean all of the stray dogs in Thailand by himself, but his message can have a greater impact if it spreads. We couldn't be happier to help him out. For more information, feel free to check out the Soi Dog Foundation website, or watch Sorasart Wisetsin's story about his dog Gluta.
