Elephant Sands is a bush lodge in Botswana where it's as common to see an impala from the lodge's veranda as it is to see meandering guests! The guests have the option of staying either in the main chalet or in one of the ten safari-tents. But there's no telling who might be their next visitor!
Imagine returning to your accommodations after a long, dusty day on safari. You're hot and tired, and a dip in the pool sounds like just the ticket. So you peel off your clinging layers and head to the water, where it turns out you weren't the only one with the idea to cool off by the pool.
Watch in the video below as guests staying at Elephant Sands share their pool time with an unexpected pal - an elephant! It seems that the pachyderm was hot that day, too...and he needed a drink. Luckily the pool isn't chlorinated (nothing is fenced off at Elephant Sands, to allow for up-close animal encounters - though perhaps not this up-close), so the elephant wasn't in any danger of drinking chemicals.
Have you ever had a wild animal encounter that was so intimate? Could you believe how close these tourists got to such a magnificent animal? Let us know in the comments below, and share this video on Facebook if you found it as thrilling as we did!
