Arachnophobia is one of the top ten phobias experienced by people. But even those who do not suffer from the extreme anxiety or intense fears associated with the condition feel some level of anxiety around spiders. This is a natural biological response to unknown, potentially poisonous insects and creatures. So even though only a few spider species can actually break human skin with a bite, many of us still get chills thinking about a spider infestation.

If you are not part of that group, this video might be enough to change your mind. Everyone here reacted in pretty much the same way: "OMG! I would move!" Some people in the YouTube comments insist that the video is just very good CGI (computer-generated imagery). Whether that's true or just wishful thinking, the video succeeds in giving most people the creeps after watching it. Given that most spiders lay hundreds of eggs in each egg sac, it isn't entirely inconceivable for a mild annoyance to turn into an infestation.

According to Pest Kill, the best way to deal with spider infestations in the home is by taking preventative measures. If you aren't inclined to use heavy pesticides, spiders, who are very sensitive to scents, can be repelled in many natural ways. Eucalyptus, garlic and cilantro are all-natural, spider-repellant plants. Sprays can be made with citronella, peppermint, lavender, or tea tree oil. These sprays should be used at windowsills, doorways, and any other crevice where spiders can gain access to the house. Once you have an infestation, however, it is best to call a professional exterminator.
